Manufacturing Process of ASME SA193M Gr. B7 Bolts
2025-11-06 08:32:41

The manufacturing process of ASME SA193M Gr. B7 bolts is particularly critical to ensure compliance with industry standards and to achieve excellent performance in end-use applications.

Heat treatment is an essential process step to enhance the mechanical properties of alloy materials. For Gr. B7 bolts, quenching and tempering are typically employed:

  • Quenching: The bolts are heated to a high temperature and then rapidly cooled to increase hardness and strength.

  • Tempering: The bolts are reheated at a lower temperature and then slowly cooled to improve toughness and ductility, while relieving internal stresses caused by quenching.

Surface treatment further improves corrosion resistance and wear resistance. Common methods include:

  • Zinc Plating: Applying a zinc coating to enhance corrosion resistance.

  • Black Oxide Treatment: Forming a layer of iron oxide on the bolt surface to increase anti-rust capability.

The machining process involves cold forming, turning, and grinding. High precision of the threads and the overall structural integrity of the bolt must be ensured to meet design requirements and guarantee reliability during service.
